Biryani is a favourite food for both adults and kids alike in many regions of the world especially in South Asia.
Biryani is derived from Persian word ‘berya’ which means fried.
Though biryani can be made with chicken, mutton, fish, eggs or vegetables, chicken biryani is the most popular because of its taste and health implications of mutton.
It is very popular in South Asia and is a key element of the South Asian cuisine. Hyderabad, Malabar, Kashmir, Karachi, Lahore, Middle East are the main centres of biryani cuisine. Biryani is the favourite week-end dish for the working class in the Gulf region.
Recipes for all types of biryanis are similar except for addition of spices as per the local or regional flavours.
