• 1 ½ cups Basmati Rice
• 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
• 2 tablespoons butter
• 1 onion, chopped
• 1 pound chicken mince
• ¼ cup tomato purée
• 1 teaspoon cumin powder
• 1 teaspoon red chili powder
• 1 teaspoon garam masala
• 1 teaspoon turmeric
• ¼ cup fresh coriander, chopped
• Salt and black pepper, to taste


1. Start by heating the oil and butter in a pan. When the butter has melted, add the chopped onion and fry until it turns golden brown.

2. Add the chicken mince and fry until it turns brown.

3. Add the tomato purée, cumin powder, red chili powder, garam masala, turmeric, and fresh coriander. Stir well and cook for a few minutes.

4. Add the Basmati rice and the required amount of water. Bring the mixture to a boil and then reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes.

5. When the rice is cooked, turn off the heat and fluff the rice with a fork.

This dish is best served with a side of raita or chutney.
